This weekend only 815 players shuffled up sealed decks ho-ho-hoping to be crowned the winner of Grand Prix Indianapolis (with the additional title of Santa potentially on the line). Despite the comparatively poor showing compared the the last GPIndy, the competition was still fierce. The usual excitement over making Day 2 or beating a pro seemed somehow even sweeter — almost like a Christmas Miracle, though not quite as good as having Pack Rat.
The bigger story than the spells being slung might just be that, because of holiday travel, the coverage was only written and left many feeling unsatisfied. However, for the sta- studded Top 8, including defending Indy Champion Tom Martell as well as a host of other Grand Prix champs and a Rookie of the Year, a white knight (of the reliquary) stepped up and brought many Magic fans the fix they desired.
