Indianapolis played host to Star City Games and a record-breaking number of people for the Standard Open. The increased tournament attendance during the past few weeks might be based in the fact that folks want their feature match narrated by Joey Pasco — or maybe people actually are enjoying to play Magic. Whichever it may be, it sure makes for a great weekend. In this week’s tournament, 11 rounds led to a Top 8 the following day where Naya Humans outlasted Prime Speaker Zegana.
Legacy fired with a fair number as well and soon players where Sneaking and Attacking and Miracling all the way to their very own Top 8. RUG Delver made a small comeback this weekend, presumably to fight off all that combo, but Alex Binek, a member of Team USA last year, took home the trophy with a good old-fashioned CounterTop/Miracles deck.
If Star City keeps up this pace, Magic historians better switch from pen to pencil when writing down record tournament attendance.

Round four lost to B/U control mill. .. very bad tilt... have to go streak to top 16 #scgindy— Bradley Ullo (@BRADullo) March 9, 2013
It's pretty friggin' awesome that the top eight of #SCGIndy includes a couple. Has that ever happened before? Has a record been set today?!— Dave (@AvatarOfBro) March 10, 2013
I like Jeff Hoogland's 4-Color Loam deck. A lot more fun to watch than the same old Stoneblade, RUG, Miracles or BUG decks. #SCGIndy— Joshua Coffey (@Skelemania) March 10, 2013
Good to see Sneak and Show smashed.Deck is dumb and boring.#SCGINDY— Josh Hand (@hurricaneshand) March 10, 2013
#SCGINDY so Jund aggro, Jund midrange, Jund Loam, Punishing Jund, I'm noticing a trend...— FelineLongmore (@FelineLongmore) March 10, 2013
What is better than Misdirecting a turn one Thoughtseize?Yes they have to reveal their hand to you, discard, and they lose 2.#SCGINDY— Max Schroeder (@MaxRSchroeder) March 11, 2013
Lost in the quarter finals in 3 games. Should have mulled game 2, if his last card wasn't REB I think I won. Oh well good times #scgindy— chewy106 (@chewy106) March 11, 2013
The RUG vs RIP Miracles matchup is definitely NOT 50/50. It is in Miracles favor by a decent amount, probably better than 60/40. #scgindy— Eric Weeden (@EricWeeden1) March 11, 2013
Sweet. I won an open. #SCGINDY— Alex Binek (@PTQChamp) March 11, 2013
