If you liked Magic for the flavor, then there is a good chance you are a might bit displeased due to Thursday’s announcement by Wizards. With changes to the legend rule as well as the planeswalker rule, many of the folk in the Magic community discovered they have a bit more Vorthos in their player makeup than previously imagined. Of course a few others found out they were heartless machines who only like mechanics and hate fun and happiness. But what do I know, I’m just reading the tweets. And I must say that this conversation has been Legen-
I felt a great disturbance in Dominaria, as if a million Vorthoses suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. #LegendRule

I’m not a doom monger, saying “This is going to kill Magic”.But it will drastically alter the playability of a lot of cards.

To those people asking “How do I deal with (insert planeswalker/legend here) now”, might I suggest attacking with creatures?

It doesn’t make any flavor sense (”I’ll block your Geist of Saint Traft w/ my Geist of Saint Traft”), but overall I like the rules changes.

Geist of Saint Traft called. He didn’t ask for anything back, he just wanted to brag about how much less killable he is now. Jerk. #SqueeM14

Confession Time: I did get a lot of joy watching Phantasmal Image act as Doom Blade on Geist of Saint Traft. #shame

Another big gainer from the legend rule is Zegana, which now chains very well with itself.

Progenitus now has protection from the legend rule.

@dreamtimedrinne Flavor is very important but when flavor fights gameplay, we err on gameplay. Elephants wear boots and walls carry swords.

I am unhappy now mostly cause I hate change. I think I Need to play with the new rules before I pass final judgement.

The new legends rule sounds sucktacular. But Wizards has a track record of making the game more fun. So I’ll put this on credit. For now.

@zdch Actually the most disheartening rules update about Magic I ever read. I’m not looking forward to playing after it comes into effect.

@tabakrules Why wasn’t the World Enchantment rule changed to match the legendary/planeswalker rules?

I, for one, welcome our new Legendary overloads. #mtg
