Going into a Star City Games event, it’s hard to predict what Twitter will focus on for the weekend. Some popular favorites include who’s announcing, a cheating scandal, pros in attendance, trash talking or sloppy play. Despite the Standard title being taken by Chris Dillahay’s U/W Delver (over a third of top 8 and 16–he’s back!), the biggest excitement was for second place finisher Kurt Crane’s Elf Wave combo deck featuring mana-hemorrhaging green creatures, Genesis Wave and some powerful finishes in the form of Ezuri, Renegade Leader and Craterhoof Behemoth. Switching over to Legacy, a diverse but unsurprising top 8 came down to Josh Cho’s Merfolk deck versus Kenny Castor with perennial top-finisher RUG Delver. In the end, Cho “lorded” it over Kenny and said go fish.
While the Wife is away, the kids will play.... Watching #SCGNY with the family. Congrats on HoF @thepchapin. twitter.com/MrScottyMac/st…

#SCGNY If I were Alex, I would concede this game as he can probably win game three and Sun Titan is really the only thing winning it for him

I’m actually rooting for the Delver deck in the #scgny finals. Does that make me a bad person?

@fellwolf Did they GL him? Just turned the stream on. Who plays DFCs in white sleeves??? #SCGNY
— Chris Lansdell (@lansdellicious) July 29, 2012
@scglive They are either opaque, or not opaque... Not opaque enough = not opaque. DFC game losses not rare on this. Use checklists! #SCGNY
— Kim Warren (@Fellwolf) July 29, 2012
#SCGNY I really wanted to see the natural ending to that game 2. Having it end with a game loss for those delvers is blargh.
